Below is a rough automated transcript of the episode. We are working on making this better:

90’s Pat was quite big DMX fan 25 minutes into the recording where where on a rock and roll today audio so excited today is a cool day special special guest joining us we do we have John Armstrong welcome John thanks hey guys just want to let you know I have a heart out next Tuesday a little bit I would let you know I got it I got it Google Play Store you really deserve that we do for those who don't know Jon is a awesome magician he's one close-up Magician of the year you've been on several TV shows such as The Tonight Show The Today Show Penn and Teller fool us which is my personal favorite out of those are the comic fans out there John has also co-created the comic smoke and mirrors which is very cool as well . yeah it was so but we do it like your W is a lot of fun audio you're your normal gig was working on a Disney cruise ship correct I was actually real quick I don't want to monopolize too much with us audio major covid-19 prove anything to you so fine I'm sure but I didn't realize it along Harold audio it's depressing to be Odyssey a podcast but anyway Disney Wonder which was doing a trans it was moving from its position which is Transitional cruise with liquid moving permits musician in New Orleans new Panama Canal to San Diego during that 14 days we weren't able to actually because of all the Provost of where it was stopped because I will be on for 5 days but I asked you was on all 14 of the days the point we all the other ships had got back in and all you disembark all the other Cruise Lines. The shutdown Aldi parts store closed retail sporting event anything but we still have three more days to sail to San Diego so we were technically the last happiest place on earth we were the last thing was actually like operating normally it's a we were getting into audio president have to quarantine on the ship no I wouldn't have any kisses on the ship yeah it sure everything was fine and then we all got in and then I guess some people got it off after that obviously but what works out other we drove me and my wife we drove actually from San Diego arranging a flight for us like that awful drive when he would deal with it airport right now audio so yes I should be significant amount of money this year I should have been had lot headlining on Disney Cruise Line within doing also doing a Casino in Reno every other week accurately you are doing some cool stuff you're doing shows at home right like to resume and whatnot difference between meetings from work or kids or a wife still have birthday parties that are not born a lot more fun than just people driving by in their card carprofen and I see your do any video fact is that 6ft close enough for close-up Magic audio I don't know I think that I can do my parlor magic I can be I can play bigger I'm sure that's an interesting challenge to like you know your stuff to fit the medium right yeah it's less about adopting and on honestly about taking the meeting itself and then going from there and trading to stings at work for it everything that I do I got Arie. Just reworked it but like I've started from the ground from the ground floor and built up brand new material so alewerks right the mini Punjab in the short run to if our fan ever listeners want to like support you we can buy the comic book on comixology no idea I don't see it that's all that's all that's a long time ago contractors waste bin no I'm is the easiest way to support me to go to my website and the car john.com car djon Tom and then check out some doing a estrela buddy sorts I'll ask you one-on-one workshops or if you wanted to learn some magic while you're in your quarantine and learn how to do sum. pick up a new hobby or skill I added as well so it's all there in my is the link tr8r the zoom shows resume shows are either private shows are doing for people who need to hire me or corporations individual families whatever or I have a doing a couple public shows that you'd find on my side as well but for the most part I've been doing the private shows I am just make it really easy for everybody hits what I'm talking about is that car john.com flash podcast excellent breaking into the lucrative world of podcasting probably not Super Liquor that helps having actual skills but transition there as you were bringing up the comic book pot we asked John what he wanted to watch and you did choose a comicbookmovie call most likely happen if you have anything to do with me or what I like to watch by your Captain America hat and Captain America t-shirt today that you were, quicksand I am I a DC guy like my wedding ring and wedding ring is the bat is The Dark Knight utility belt audio I noticed you said you were EDC guy yeah yeah where what happened what is a big D I was a big DCI forever and I stay still Batman all the way but when I read Comics but the MCU like the first Iron Man movie really started me love Marvel and I was ever a normal guy mostly because I felt like a lot of stuff is just so like I don't know why I didn't like the idea to like some people with powers were hated some people with powers Roque did you get your powers because of a seroma you're okay but he get powers real mutants in somehow that's terrible I didn't understand if I like if you are afraid of powers you should just be afraid of towers not the idea where the powers come from I don't see you how that's the issue what is a good transition if you think about it the movie were talking the first X-Men audio I didn't know until recently was part of the Marvel Universe has Hector Navarro posted something about it and said what is your favorite Marvel movie and he had like was a Marvel property it's not audio MCU going to be in the future there are a Marvel property I mean as they are Edward VIII Marvel property the 99 animated series is. so it's on Disney Plus I also wasn't a Marvel person until quarantine when I decided I would eventually watch all of the Marvel movies that I haven't seen so I've been going through and watching the Marvel films not in release order in actual like chronological order of when they occur in the timeline which is super helpful by the way like I used to used to just be like people be like you have to watch this one and I feel like I have no idea what's happening so watching them in like like historical like this one takes place in 1991 son takes place in 1995 like it has been so helpful for me onto the Marvel team really apology when she finishes because she leaving or being all emotional Infinity War endgame audio audio audio this is a huge change it was a big Marvel hater to be honest I wasn't like into the superhero movies John but then this has really and I think it's all about like watching them in the right order cuz when the thing is is the Marvel movies I don't need to like take us on this Marvel tangent but big Lego we're going audio like they don't hold your hand explain so if you haven't seen the 17 million other movies that you had to see before you've no idea what they're talking about at least that's how I felt when I would watch them in the past and now watching them in order I'm like oh my God I get that reference oh I know what their daddy shito Outlook infinite there pretty tiny but it's not like that's like a bigger picture thing it's even smaller picture things will they'll be like I bet you don't know where Bruce Banner is right now and in the past I would have been like what and now I'm like oh cuz he left I get it now Ash this is your character art if it's because you're watching it in the order or that you're just watching if you really think about it did the structure bmcu and we're just talking with the 23 movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe the MCU if you take a look at those those movies like any other great work of fiction weather be like you're not a novel or other types of movies that use flashback and Flash Forward as a story time and place exactly what's going on Iron Man put you in one point in time and then the other films are go back and forth from this point in time to then tell the story that when will eventually lead into Infinity war and two at the end game far from home being mostly as a Cota but you look like a little tag flashlight flashback show me what does Memento reversed universe audio Rock Solid continuity where can I watch X-Men and I feel like we need to get moving on the topic guys because I have way more notes for this than I normally have cuz X-Men you also have a day on Tuesday I actually do have me and Pat both have hard out on Tuesday so I was talking with Pat yesterday briefly and I was like I can't tell you my favorite fact I'm going to open with my favorite fact because it's going to color your entire viewing of the film if you didn't know it Haddad was wearing a wig and fake sideburns oh no why would you tell me that take away the last movie we watched was like that one guy couldn't actually break dance and then I couldn't see him not knowing how to breakdance through the movie but apparently his his he hated the way he looks so much after having watched the movie he was like never again and like the rest of the film's he's got like natural chops was the wig like because he didn't want to grow his hair that way audio did not want Hugh Jackman in this movie initially they went through like other people eat they hired him like 3 weeks into filming he was not good keep a lookout for just of the widely varying amount of jackness of Hugh Jackman because in different shots it's been a long time since I've seen the movie but I saw within less like 2 years someone who posted on those side by sides of him in like the last two appearances as well as Wolverine and then in the first X-Men and Goodwill skinny boy in the first one he spent from that from that point on heel spur 15 years 16 years working out like a bodybuilder for his job so yeah it's ridiculous I mean I feel like I feel like looking at the some of the shots and I feel like that you could probably beat up Hugh Jackman at the beginning of this yeah the nurse or upset about something yeah 6 to and apparently Wolverine supposed to be a 5-3 Mead that's an inch taller than me supposed to be like a little bowling ball of muscle Danny DeVito is a box with the original first 30 issues of the Wolverine solo comic on perfect condition so yeah call I'm about that Logan life audio for some reason I am a nerd and I like to stop for some reason a lot of those things castings never bothered me that much I get it's a different medium in Uno I feel like it's hit or miss details that upset me or don't cuz I feel like if it's really that critical I can see with this one the height thing cuz it's kind of critical but I don't know John you're a fan obviously bother you at first or did you know because I was never really a big Marvel reader I know I never read it yeah that was not where I was coming from I love this movie because it's me unlike some other stuff in that that we had happened previously audio 2 when when it came to light couldn't go to superhero movies or comic movies they're taking the character seriously like that seem to be like actual reverence I mean like to open the movie open in a centrally concentration camp the sadness like we absolutely destruction in this person's eyes and because of meaning of all of the dad from the awfulness has happening around him his powers manifest you know I mean Eagles Powers manifested he has like this moment when he's able to defend the bars and it's it's incredible and that's right man I was like all right taking this seriously this is not like supposed to be you know and it's an inside the the Batman but you know the 60s Batman with his love by the way I was like what you know for its own self like I love play it's not like not supposed to be dark and weird and Gothic like the Batman from Tim Burton cuz this was all what I had in my mind before that you know it wasn't like thanks. That wasn't the weird campy things the Batman from the 60s it was a huge huge people who have powers real life events things that actually matter in the I mean I get in the greater scheme of things why these powers are manifesting or why are using their powers to me that was like oh wait this visit this way or I'll watch this audio that seems to be like Deb picking apparmor realistic because it's not realistic grounded yeah cuz think you start here that if you move forward through this movie isn't has nothing to do with the MCU you could see that is planting the seeds of what eventually become and becomes the MCU just adore I love that but again that opening scene like right just like saying oh look there's audio here's this here's this guy he's pulling the the the bars and it's insane and that's okay we care I care now I care instantly and away. open Dental the normal weight of these things open which is like the other the bad guys or another level you're trying to rob a bank or whatever and then I set up the superhero comes in to save the day with your social s totally if they go out of their way to set up the light the characters in this movie are like real people with real feelings yeah and you know it makes one one of the reasons why I didn't like a lot of superhero movies originally was because when like the world is at stake or like the whole universe is at stake almost feels like nothing's at stake because it's not like personal versus like him in a concentration camp that's extremely personal you know like that that's like it makes you feel for that character right away versus when every superhero movie I hate to make this comparison feel like Dragon Ball Z totally did this over and over and over again or it's like the stakes were always the same here's another bad guy that's going to destroy the planet so we have two Super Saiyan again you know it's like it gets old after awhile so when the stakes are more personal it I think it connects you to the characters more of course in Dragon Ball Goku had to watch some of his friends by first before getting emotionally invested couch there's a lot of fun facts about this movie Rebecca Romijn is a mistake and I have tooth to fax one was her prosthesis that she wears has like 8,000 scales on it or something like oh wow I took like 7 hours to get her in the costume everyday and they just put her in a dark trailer that had no contact with anyone so that nobody would see what she look like before audio yeah cuz I guess it was like a production like a production secret what's Mystique going to look like so they didn't want anybody taking pictures or anything why does she have to be in the dark she was in the dark he was blocked off from everyone Brian punishment but apparently for her to celebrate her last day on set she brought a bottle of tequila and got drunk with everybody but did that before shooting her last seen which was a fight the fight scene with Wolverine if she threw up all over him I would have been a hilarious twist to that seen though if they kept that in yeah I guess she had like the blue her mouth and stuff like it if she threw up blue all over blurry at my God audio audio Mystique again after that show me at 3 audio who makes a little bit she makes a cameo I think in a Days of Future Past 2 audio I was like one of those Transformations or something by the transformations audio this is one of the I think that's the only X-Men movie that despite being based on the X-Men property isn't based on a comic Arc 2nd degree child lot they wrote for this which I think probably explains some of that seriousness. sorry did Marvel Studios reduce these as well or Marblehead actually I had to sell off essentially all of their major major, titles two other Studios make money because they were game beer going bankrupt at this time and they actually there's a story about that where they offered Sony everything 420 million dollars Spider-Man we're good oh my God Son so what you're saying is if we had a time machine audio or I believe that the reason why the MC use as good as it is because they were the scrappy underdog take these characters that were essentially I mean some people beloved is there be if Nazi lister's and and take them and create something and with the big gamble was was if IDs idea of interconnected Universe where these films are all going to be connected and because of that will all lead into this one big film which is going to be the Avengers that is genius and I don't think any of that would have happened if they had everything separate latest everything separate they would it be if they had everything how to make adjust if so he would have bought all we would have never seen with them being cute interconnected Universe cuz I would never know why you took that risk audio I think this is an obvious it was paid off the best people to make the cells because are The Originators you know like they it's their content and so anyone else might not appreciate it and care for it as much as they might Bryan Singer who is a jerk let's move on Bryan Singer not a big fan Bryan Singer he on the set headband Comics he wanted no Comics he wanted to know what this evening on the original X-Men 1 lifted the ban by 2 but and Kevin feige who was still at that point working as a as a producer unravel rod and stuff like that for marble or produce or not. power outages now audio Wolverine comics Hugh Hugh Jackman who is desperate to actually read more about the character that he was he was trying to attract audio why would you do that Zack Snyder has a similar mentality he keeps getting like superhero movies that's part of what the problem with the DC once he's done yeah problem is Zack Snyder yeah I like this movie I remember excited but there is there's even a shot movie like they say a joke about like some of his comment about the outfits they're wearing their what do you expect yellow spandex you know it's a blatant dig cuz Wolverine traditional costume is yellow better ways to do that like in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie like instead of putting April Neal in a yellow jumpsuit gave her like a yellow trench coat you know like Blake ways you could refresh the characters outfits and still all depends on if you're doing it if you have respect and reverence for our feel like this is a dumb audio maybe projecting facts and reverence I mean he's just using it all the time the entire time this movie so that's that's a big do you know anything about this is between get to direct movies I'm right here white male privilege Ash white male privilege maybe if I just you know wear a mustache and a wig if you have done that in the past don't give it away little nose that is interesting though it yet cuz it kind of has that is part of the seriousness of the opening of this film and some of the content like but how serious it's taken a factor of what I probably just projecting as like the shame of working on comic movie instead of like the serious movie Bryan Singer wanted to make or something he came right from this I mean he can write from unusual suspects to this and he he really pitched himself and very very heavily to to make this phone audio I mean like really wanted to do it really wanted to do this he really wanted to do it because he wanted to take the characters because he liked the characters always being pitch to him and take it and do what he wanted what to do with them just why he was like screw this I might have any comments on the set I'm making it we're running a completely original thing ever going to just take these characters do whatever you want with them audio I can't I just there's a lot of like really great stuff in this movie and the second movie in fact I would go so far as to say X2 better than X1 text you there's some really good like a super solid character development really really smart Ark he was going to say if you really look at it he's going to go right into the the Phoenix Saga he was trying to actually do the dark Phoenix Saga because he really fell in love with an idea the cosmic Force taking over somebody and doing the whole thing yeah because he's Bryan Singer he screw all that up and they brought in Brett Ratner I believe to do the Third pillowman. film is ridiculously off but I mean but that and then he's so funny he's so obsessed by doing the Phoenix Saga Bend then later on when they do the reboot Days of Future Past actually thought that was pretty good and first class and all that stuff depleting back up again through do the Phoenix Saga music this is his chance he's going to do the Phoenix Saga we're going to redo it was my chance to actually do what I really wanted to do and then he wasn't even on set half the time like the second unit director directed most of the fell audio yeah it's ridiculous it's a franchise that has ridiculously wide range between the best and worst of the movies because what is the first original X-Men very good movies Logan was phenomenal as the Wolverine was pretty good I really like the first class and Days of Future Past and then like X3 dark Phoenix apocalypse Origins Wolverine I mean very some very warm garbage work at Cricket what I live about Logan is that it's obvious today audio it's obvious he took his reverence for the Old Man Logan Chase Bank I believe he had he wrote it to em so he took his reverence 40 Old Man Logan storyline from the comics and was able to bend take that and then take his reverence for I think in this case the first two X-Men films and make something that really in my mind is the third X-Men film is like missus like you really watch audio X1 X2 and then Logan that's the perfect Trilogy of those films you can be done at that point and then have a complete story Lark and a good story arc of what those characters have done beef basically do you listen to everything that's going on you know everybody kind of ends up to Lenox it's pretty great like it ends on the stove jubileus note of the fact is giving his New Mutants that are going to take it out of that they're all given the Next Generation and it's really great story that's that's great I love Logan in Sweden while I was on tour in Paxil and the most people speak English they are so nuts not even the subtitles I just watched the phone like normal it was great that's awesome yes that's dope we saw that with Hector Navarro admit at the pyramid in LA and that was like black and white yeah see the black and white 1 really cool I've never seen it in color I've only seen it that one time in black and white I still haven't see it you got to go how do what I thought of that I've heard that now then I'll jump onto John's suggested X-Men crunch I like that a lot next to a new low if you want just a really tight good the best of the X-Men movie like the X-Men Universe movies those three items you can throw in first class I think first class is very good I think there's a future passes okay I think that Wolverine has talking about about this I think the Wolverine is really good up until the very end I think would help us movie to the about to watch is the cast is pretty stellar surpassed doing Ian's Pizza go to our Halle Berry is god-given off of work with who's not giving off to work with audio you got that James Marsden he's so great audio audio Ray Park AKA Darth Maul mythica cast I don't most of my notes are just flap honestly did you know sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart did not know how to play chess audio that's awesome me on this phone that's a good question what is this like the origin of their adorable friendship what is going to be in my head everything on Twitter a couple days ago or someone said if you could have one celebrity read you a bedtime story mine who would it be definitely 3 in have you been watching Patrick Stewart's hanging out in a chair reading Shakespeare I like dipping yeah I haven't like deep dive on it audio I think we should watch this movie cuz I'm really excited for Purdue predictions right that's what we do our own podcast has not seen its right and not seen it we've all seen it I just looked it up and this is the film where audio Seasons you know actors from that comes up as a tight-knit community movie trailer but yeah I could see this being the jumping-off point for them really close yeah I was going to start it off I'm very excited about this movie this is I don't recall it reaching the like the heights of where Logan ends up being but in the timeline of the superhero franchises watching it from from the you know golden 60s Camp to you know the Burton like weird goth civista until like this is like the last of Dupree Nolan this and Spider-Man and then you get like Nolan and then everything's like hyper greedy after that like this was an interesting transition transition point from Burton's goofy camp and like the sixties goofy Camp into the seriousness I feel like Mike Nolan was inspired by this software is a psycho you feel like real serious 10 movies I think this from even just from the historical like Cinemas standpoint of where comic book movies have where and have gone since then this is feels like an important place cuz I think this was this was before Spider-Man rights by Rodeo 2001 so this is like maybe the first time that we saw a real serious super superhero second one was $90 yeah Beyblade was also campy as hell it was just like who is Superman was good but yes a lot of first so I don't know yet probably blade but like the opening scene of this is going to really set the tone for not just a movie but kind of like the next ten years of superhero movies guy cuz I can buy glitter to build on that very briefly for my predictions of yeah I'm excited I think it's going to be good but these movies this will be particular in that first blade in this in the first Spider-Man hold a special place in my heart because Turning Point where the keys give you a good movies good stories are still taking so seriously not too seriously put the right amount at like the kind of the right balance of seriously audio weight is important because this is a step forward we're blade, open that door I think is very serious and is grounded button is technically a comic book blade was a Marvel comic book character but it's also not comic book because it's action and vampires right and vampire movies have been around forever so it wasn't as much of a bleep I'd say or for the general audience this is taking it a step further okay we have this we're going to build on that we're going to do it with superheroes though another step for something that maybe people didn't take us seriously so it's kind of like blade that first step then there's this Tobey Maguire Spider-Man more colorful suits more comic book e and it's kind of each one you can see it from Gresham you can see it evolving and still being serious still being good still having weight getting closer to like comic book on film on screen yeah I have a audio big lot for this movie so that they can be good with it too campy or tongue-in-cheek or like you if you take it seriously and you have respect for the material it can be goodshit not implying that be at the 60s Camp stuff wasn't respectful it was just like a different totally different time yeah made me watch this like what last year we watched we watched all of the Wolverine appearances leading up to Logan when I came out in like 5 1700 is it that long ago so that was a while ago don't remember anything about this movie except the opening scene yeah so I don't know that could go either way they could be great or that could be bad it could just be that we watched all of them in the span of like 2 days I don't know I think it's how do I think in many ways we might be disappointed because comic book bar has been set so high I could see us kind of expecting it to live up to that hype and being disappointed so I'm going in with caution call John you clearly remember this oh yeah very wet but very much so predictions on II still I'd like to think it holds up I'd like to think that and view this particular film or that never viewed this particular film as a superhero story of Spider-Man is a superhero story you get to know the powers he gets the suit he gets it gets in and he starts immediately for kind of eye crying because he feels bad because he let that guy kill his uncle immediately talking about like the direct relationship man you know like I have power so I have to fight crime like that so it'll I have to mess up what the stories about like this is like I have powers oh no I'm a freak what am I going to do with these what you know what's going on and it's really about the warring factions of Brotherhood of mutants and Xavier Xavier admittance or the X-Men like it's that's really the focus of the story is less about no like this standard super heroics and more about the science fiction of people with these powers and how they're dealing with their powers and because they're so different this is what the allegory was in the original Comics but the allegory for anyone that's different than the original allegory was 4 in civil rights and CEO and the recently-released relations and in this case because Bryan Singer with like Ole Miss beat it over the over the head over over again this is definitely about that gay rights and about like you know how 1:15 because of something that they can hide from the outside and still seem normal cuz I'm like race audio fiebre clearly clearly that you are I know right eBay clearly what you know about if you're black or whatever if you're gay that's something you can hide Chinese people are hiding their powers hiding who they are and at the school at Xavier school they actually can be who they are so I think the metaphor I've been being about you know lgbtq and what that is and be proud of who you are is very prevalent in this and I remember that being such a big sticking points in my head like it's something that I remember like thinking about that as that allegory and what that was supposed to be I'm hoping it still holds up a swing that I thought of now and I'm using now the instead of the way they look in the world currently as a do is support the way. I looked at the film back then everybody about this movie and I was an IV evangelized Angelica is this movie so much like I seriously this AP watch this even if you don't like how much you like this is so good converted many people because of this movie back in the 90s that's that's what I'm how long has it been since you've seen it I've seen it I'm sure was like on a plane sometime I'll be like you know maybe 15 years ago what's a good amount of time why I think I haven't since maybe when it came out I do remember seeing it in the theaters I remember washing it but I like Sam do not remember anything about this movie I do have the IMDb page up and just seen a picture of Halle Berry's hair my expectation is that this will look extremely 2004 sure for sure I've never I never knew that prospective you were talking about John so we'll be interested in going to this this time is that perspective all watching the film so I'm definitely excited I think this is like perfect timing for me cuz like I said I've been all into the Marvel films lately so fits right in with everything I've been watching right on I think it'll be a good time even though you know it's Brian Singer but oh well are we going to do well I think bats that covers the predictions are we're going to pause the recording here and go watch X-Men I'm going to hang out at the Billy Madison mansion with Professor X I do not know the words to that song calculator would have been great if the movie actually ended with that as the credit song though yes yeah it needed stuff like pump you up music there at the end that's for sure what is the era where they actually they would have thought done that now people B2 before that or so I feel like they blatantly ripped off the The Fight Club opening like CG Zoom through a human brain thing so I figured they would have ripped off the fight club like pop song for the credits was here before I mean where Is My Mind by the Pixies kind of fits with Professor Xavier I think the score I didn't ask or the end at least to me it sounded a little bit just like be in the 90s X-Men cartoon audio audio audio there is a hilarious all we get later after the fact you got I'll send it to the email or something there is an amazing video out there somewhere of someone like singing a song to that to the theme but just basically describing different characters it's like and then there's closets like Wolverine's claws play Hero crew or there's the bad guys 2 guys I'm just going to come out the gate and just say this movie stolat from Umbrella Academy I mean just kidding you think that is because you keep watching things out of order I have a Wonder though like was it it seems like Umbrella Academy was heavily inspired by X-Men oh I I think he's has said as much like yeah and I think the Trope of like the school for gifted people at this point is ubiquitous and not necessarily owned by anyone audio never been done before they have magic and they're hiding the comics and stuff so they could claim one of the early Pilots that but that any what's a concept I feel that get me wrong if you're going to do that you got to find a way to make it your own there's someone out there who wants to do a story that Papillon Blanc promise you got to figure something out to make it different of course but yeah I did really enjoy Stan Lee's cameo in this hot dog vendor yep O3 Greedo the writer of the the movie is in the history of the Statue of Liberty guards did they manage to keep up the Stan Lee cameos audio literally all like Spider-Man and of course all the MCU he's The Wilhelm scream of Marvel Pat bring it down Everett was not even going to mention his name someone randomly like the tweet this is really funny because like 3 days ago someone randomly likes the tweet I tweet on the day of his death by like how much it meant to me and stuff like that a little while ago why are you why you liking it now creepy like what someone likes you Facebook photo from like 5 years ago and you're like audio Taurus when they only like the bikini photos more like 90% of past photos are so it's hard to really see you're wearing a shirt today bud pretty strict rules on that when it comes to the the nipple area I was allowed to be shown so audio so they actually are there like super strict on my sister weird rule about odd numbers of nipples on screen at once like you to is bad 3 that's why I would really like you to test this you cannot be shirtless on Twitch I don't want it getting sexy audio I think they could actually they would just stop the Stream I know but I mean like can you we're talking about at the beginning how the X-Men story was like metaphor for for gay rights and so like is the plot of this movie that they were going to like let's make everyone gay literally I mean it was but to be fair I'd say like is gay rights there was a little bit of like civil rights to like racial civil rights in the X-Men Genesis as well I think if you want to get broader their basis is supposed to be a metaphor for any minority marginalized group John the unit really good point though early Angeles rewrites is play something you can kind of highway or a lot of can high pulse some can't go cuz their appearance but it is very interesting turn the world leaders the mutants so then all the most powerful mutant so why would they go against meet their own kind at that point she knew it was going to kill them so I think it was more like kill all of the world leaders he didn't believe them when they said that the dude died audio I think he thought they were just trying to talk him out of his scheme I mean I don't think he'd really care though if you was killing them or not he seemed like he was going out of his way not he'll people stop saying do you want to do it he's very Magneto's very have no problem killing people if it suits my audio I don't enjoy it I feel the ends justify the beans and I will do whatever it takes to make this happen audio audio he actually says the Malcolm X line any means Vanessa thing is the Civil Rights tie into is very very very loose leaf okay but you know Magneto is kind of a loose allegory for Malcolm X Xavier is it Loose allegory for MLK different interesting cuz I I kind of was like the X-Men is that like a Malcolm X thing their whole thing throughout the course they were good friends history of they were good friends and this sort of split the way things should be done or ideological split kind of throw them into which I think is really interesting I literally just watched Civil War last night and the comparisons like this are so similar this whole idea of these like friends like torn apart by their beliefs there's even like in Xmen they want the mutants to all like have to register Civil War they have to sign this document like you know agreeing that the walrus train so was really interesting watching them back-to-back because I think Civil War is the better version of the story but the story still had unique things like I really love Wolverine and Rogue relationship I think we have Tremors lying about that too yeah I thought that was really cute and then like some memory I don't think they really come back to it a lot I feel like there's a little bit of music Big Brother little sister Vibe thing he saves our at the end family like in the any other movies I think audio the groundwork for Apple next to is more about him finding out his origin which is a neatly laid out in this movie where they like Heroes of the sequel set up who's clearly intentional for sure I will say you mentioned the wig and sideburns and Brett and I could not tell that it was a wig and cyperts on him like I didn't think it looks bad at all I feel like the only really stood out in the very first like introductory fight scene they got baby like a real slow close up on his face as I all right I could see it a little bit but yeah it wasn't as bad as I thought I was going to I mean it's nowhere near as bad as storms hair that's like obviously a wig bad bad wig how to modify the future phones there is a fun fun fact I didn't get to share about the the costuming and special effects apparently so all of the everybody's weird eyes and storms eyes and that Sabertooth thing going on storms I've had to be done in CG because she refused to wear the contact lenses because they were so uncomfortable and like something was weird about him when they can only wear them for like an hour at a time and can't remember the actor's name of the guy that played Sabretooth left his in for too long and when they took it out he was blind for a day audio hubby just terrifying audio my neighbor left her contacts in and like slept with them in one just like one night and got like a crazy serious like eye infection I didn't do it toad is a very interesting choice for henchman because for the most part everyone else was pretty Marquee in the X-Men verse audio Panera because they definitely didn't know any of the original slate of X-Men they wouldn't be popular in the 90s cartoon like Wolverine audio he's mentioned in it but yeah Beast is notably absent from this first one and he it's interesting what they do when they made the adults the children because Iceman is a teenager Iceman was going to like the original he's really he's what you know and then they're archangel comes in like a younger kid and later movies and things so it's interesting who they chose to be grown ups and who they chose to be seriously Beast was supposed to be in this but they're like now we're going to save his introduction for the next movie and so they wrapped all of his like science stuff in the Jean Grey audio clear Beast is different than Beast Boy big blue furry let me put pictures in front of you pictures of life Hugh Jackman side-by-side from beginning to the end of these movie series cuz it's Transformations amazing a serious question about this movie Magneto's magnet boy as we call him in this household his whole plan to transfer his powers to rogue Woodburn power the machine what's the part that I don't understand is like how are you going to make her physically do the thing I'd like the machine just did the thing if you think about it logically you have powers you must have it's like you must have to use the powers to activate the machine right like it doesn't quite make sense human a human being just puts their hands on it and it just works like when do you have to use your powers and it amplifies your powers or something there's a few questions involved with with Rogues powers in general because it's like I will say I feel like they've established with the character that when she first absorbs them they can't she can't be just kind of happen like when she was like didn't have control of them okay baby like she absorbed they kind of go off and that triggers a machine I guess that makes sense what is only going to be like I'm not going to touch it you know like I don't know I just feel like connected to it Guinness can contact is allows her to have her power so if she if she's held there basically would like bonds is the car remote switch he hit the remote switch it's just going to take the power of whatever and then the control is actually being done by and I need it feed the battery not the battery does not choose to power the device Wolverine to heal yourself that was obviously we don't we don't know whether she intentionally like superpowers and then consciously use them over like I just take the powers and then they happen inside of me when I take someone's powers do you want to get that day picky you could have done the scene where she absorb someone else's powers and lost his blanket like a fire person and I can't control it when I first absorb them or something like that the other moment was like the dude with the bullet and I was like your head maybe he had feelings and Magneto was holding them in place by his feelings edible is can you guys come up with a narrative reason for the thing Statue of Liberty Midtown Manhattan is it overlooking wherever the Summit is and it's remote enough that they could set the set it up but it's so far away from the people they want to harm they were right to erase us across the street did no one notice they were building that whole thing on top of the Statue of Liberty either like I guess not he used to mess with the iron in your blood stream so you forget and don't see it magnetism powers can accomplish looks like they get real fast and lose this movie Play Magneto can just like f****** like alter the electrons in atoms or something right he just becomes I can do anything. There's like an alternate history series 1901 rogart together and he's able to create like a magnetized field around his body where they can touch skin to skin but it doesn't hurt him or something like that another teenager True Blood fans I'm aware I was seeing if they bite watch 1 episode 9 I'm good love this movie this movie was basically just True Blood taxis in danger and everybody's got to go save her audio I think this movie holds up audio I always fell into I like to call the if they had cell phones Paradox a couple times audio if this was just a few years later how things have changed you know like that scene on the train it's like this is call him okay great believe obviously the CG at times oh that's great I was surprised that overall I felt like the movie held up a lot better than I thought in fact everything storm is wearing audio oh my God fat where was fine what was terrible was ropes like weird Gothic scarf metallic felt like the beginning dramatic Hood she's got over her head like that's actually that would draw way more attention to yourself than leather pants are pretty bad been had to work with a guy with other pants leather pants it's her yes but the wig Plus I mean I understand does have white hair the wig is just I was just watching a movie you know if you know it like you know 90% of people you're looking at or wearing wigs and movies even so you know we know it's going to be awake it could have been a little less like pictures of ladies pop their head like there's nothing it doesn't look there's no audio even though it's just going into her scalp then things are just so 90s horribly 90s like nobody has fangs like that anymore thank God audio Becca mentioned on one of the previous episodes recently but like being able to feel the writers room there's only a couple of moments in this that had that for me but it was every time they tried to crack a joke audio except for I feel like the one that really got me it was but you should wear your seatbelt and then antenna that seen to be funny cuz it was f****** hilarious my favorite one was prove that it's you and he's like you're a dick yeah what is the best line and then it may precedes basically the worst line in the film which is win yes what happens when is Toto struck by lightning like who wrote The Punch up script who is Ono and the worst lion the movie before the same guy good Miner a bad liner and nothing line but I have likes but I know that we eat for like 20 years dumb joke things we would quote the does it hurt every time audio audio being hilarious and certain situations it's tough when you can like you can tell when there's punch up and ask in Scripps when you're just like this is a funny moment but it's not necessarily like fruit of the character he don't like characters it's like shoehorned in their kind of like that exact moment with storm where it's like okay you were you were just trying to give her a call line she had like two lines in the rest of the movie I'd like she hasn't done anything to deserve a cool line as a character nor was that a cool lion that you gave her yeah it's like you did not establish storm as a character who quits yeah exactly was amazing it was in character and totally justified there was another line in this movie that I was just like roast was win Wolverine izle what you don't want to try reading my mind are you worried that you might like it was just like you said that cuz I remember that part I used to like do the creepiest s*** not the one going in the name of life flirty banter like and then she goes to read his mind and I was like there's no reason why she would do that that was gross that was you not work he did do the thing like it didn't seem like his creepiness was completely out of left field cuz she was like a like hey and she was like oh my gosh no I have a boyfriend play Cuts like the thing that doesn't date well is the whole concept of like girls like you mad actually and Hollywood just thinks we do it's like eating all right say it but the underlying the undertone was I know you like me you know you know audio but they used to do that all the time I like 80's 90's early aughts with that s*** like with a bad boy yeah and I mean it wasn't like what's his name Blazers face like laser face was better Lakers there is a character in the Marvel Universe called taserface I really want to see your X-Men knock off with laser face boy and Laser face but he's all like stay away from my woman like she's his property I hated that line those are that was gross Marines thing it's gross with my girl audio say that she wouldn't be my girl like which I thought was kind of audio f*** you yeah I didn't f*** you exactly I don't take that as being like he Maxi meeting that I take it it's like he's mad because if you would have just said it straight-out you're absolutely right but he just got done saying if I know if I really felt that way I wouldn't have I really need to say that it would really be in a my girl I think that's not I'm being like yeah I'm like people for that like I don't have those like that b******* masculinity vibing me throw it back to you is like a f*** you bad at toxic masculinity I'm not used to this but like woman is my property yeah at least the woman wasn't the prize though so that's good little but she was the Damsel in Distress yes true but at least they wanted to cuz of her power and she was so powerful exactly she had more Dimension than green light I'm kind of I'm kind of with you like feel like woman is on actually fall exactly like that the powerful object it wasn't because she hasn't started yeah exactly am I broken in that I feel like Deadpool 2 was more of an X-Men movie than this movie there was like absence of X-Men in Deadpool 2 even making a joke out of it we were talking about how like this movie is 100% a wolverine vehicle like Wolverine it we start there and like he's the hero who guy Walmart yeah and like the X-Men or totally Supporting Cast if relevant at all in this Jazz like Deadpool where did they were helping sidekicks and it was all about like a kid with like superpowers and they're trying to like convince him to like is the path of right feels way more X-Men audio Wolverine I love Wolverine he was one of the very first superhero to the kid that I like. Do you like every kid who grew up I feel like a knot in the eighties and nineties cuz he's a tough guy badass and it's like of course you like Wolverine cuz I'm a basic ass bro but there's really it is really funny that he's like one of the most popular but the the most famous number one villain of his superhero team is someone who can control metal and he is all metal on the inside so it's like you are totally useless against her number one pho don't let anyone here watched way back like 6 7 years old the Pete Holmes Show on TBS is like a sketch variety show on CBS skiff like baby like superhero HR she had a skit where she was Professor X is Thomas middleditch was playing Wolverine firing them from the X-Men cuz he's like cool guy Wolverine everyone favor take me to Fire Lake Wylie the movie Bad Guy controls metal metal like it makes no sense I can literally kill you with my mind leave your useless but he's still really is interesting that you guys say that because I felt more like even though Wolverine does save the day in the end Rogues complete story arc to me like she has a bigger Ark I guess he has a good one too but like we start with her we see her journey and then she beats Wolverine and seems to all revolve around her no yeah so I'm not going to say a bother me in this particular movie but like that thing where if they have to be no justify every single thing about a character and like another one of those I can feel the writers room moments was Rogue and they like she supposed to have the white hair narratively it is just had that the whole time geyser well they couldn't give it for the lady actually it when she gets in the comics she gets in the comics because she actually steals the powers of Captain Marvel permanently permanently audio Mexican flying like super strong and stuff wlp for this movie how awesome would that be it's a new movie though I think there's a strong chance we see Rogue and Captain Marvel together I think that's absolutely happens audio on IMDb or something I was creeping on Taylor but I didn't know the reasons why now I do the more you know your spoilers audio it's coming really movies that haven't even been announced show me predictions that might come true and then I won't enjoy the movie I still think the secrets at the train station with all the guns at our everybody and then you see the full strength of Magneto's powers music by going to the entire movie so casually with my love open doors just moves things around anything that would more either you just normally have to get you just picking up whatever he doesn't pick it up if it's metal heated shirts what to do with hands I love that and then I love how you can see exactly how powerful Xavier is but he's able to control this too many mutants right there B&M basically talk through them not allow them to to do anything you see right there how strong both of those guys are and why they are in such a stalemate cool stuff that may need a hit music like the little balls on his desk or if you have to swing his mind back and forth absent-mindedly it was when he pulls the Senators chair to follow him as he's walking and then he puts his hand up like stop as if the senator is controlling the chair you know what he reaches he and he's like very theatrical they do crazy s*** that doesn't really make sense with his powers in the comics they do some cool ass s*** there's actually a dark where he rips the adamantium out of wolverines body Wolverine almost dies obviously audio and he has bone claws for a while he's got all the Healer lyrics that molecule by molecule office skeleton ouch where did he get the phones for the claws she's always had bone claws then they just replace them audio loaded in metal audio like a marinade audio unobtainium or if you're playing D&D adamantine I really do and I think with you know with a few minor nitpicks about the CG and the living in a world where that type of thing happens I feel still think the main story play Zion I think the character the characters with the exception of Rogue are all very well audio is it is as like a waste she has nothing to do with it sometimes actress with Ashley nothing to do and it's good it's it's a good movie and it's it's I was proud back in the day to be able to say hey you should watch this and then think differently about Comics, characters and I can still say that about this movie you're like you're like the kid that liked it it was cool before oh yeah that's me hipster hipster comically app I enjoyed this movie as well I feel like I talked a lot of big game about historical importance of the seriousness factor in the beginning and after watching it I might have overstated it a little bit cuz it was definitely way more goofy than I thought it was going to be but like all of the stuff they tried to do except for jokes works really well which is surprising for a movie that is now at 20 years old audio have a good time watching it means and we're cracking some jokes along the way but like it was I just have to quickly if put in that like thanks to you pointing out that they didn't know how to play chess it was fairly obvious when watching that scene that they didn't know how to play chess that is wild to me cuz this is there if you but those people are real if you told me put 10 people in a room Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen wear to a month you told me two people in this room do not know how to play chess they would be the last two people yeah hopefully they know now yeah I think I feel a little bit of column a little column via agree with John I feel like it hold up way better than I expected it to also I kind of agree with what Sam said early on where like now that we're so spoiled with really good comic book movies I can see you know like that to me it was the action scenes in this movie don't really hold a candle to you what's to come I mean like when Rogue just took her butt out and bitch slap the guy in the face like it was a helicopter Kroger Pacific Service. by the way did you notice how like stilted and weirdly cut the Mystique versus Wolverine fight scene was and it's 100% because there was vomit everywhere opportunity I think there was like some heavy CG in there to cover some of that as well yeah so I mean that would be by criticism is like you know the fight scenes in the CG aren't quite as good as they are today I think overall it held up pretty well it wasn't like my favorite story but I really loved Rogue and Wolverine characters and and their whole plot and it makes me just want to see more of their story yeah I agree with what I said and what I said I think I agree with myself yeah I think I had a little bit of trouble watching it because I saw it for the potential it could be if it was made today as opposed to like how it really progressed the comic book movie genre so retrospectively looking back on it with the it really did take comic book movies to a new level I think it was pretty remarkable the story was fun McBride said some of the jokes were a little dated and I would love to see Marvel people make a new X-Men movie but it wasn't Marvel Studios audio MCU yet I think we're going to see you tonight in general before we ever see directly related to X-Men cuz that awful Trainwreck movies alternate right now this was at the time of this movie X-Men would like X-men Spider-Man Worthy most famous most like Marvel property miles really really beat those horses rapping songs a banger yeah I might have to audio do love me some Wolverine storm is sucks that she's a great character who is a lot of very complex backstory and also she's a f****** god basically and they really did her dirty with how they wrote hello in his movies they underpowered hurt they like made her way less use like s if I have one big right though it's I didn't know what to do with her we have this great actress perfect for the role it was a very talented actress you have a good complex character is the know what to do with her cuz she should be she's basically a f****** God she should it's like Magneto Xavier and then in the Jean Grey and then like in the power scaling she's like a right up there with them but instead she just has fog audio you forgot she had powers I feel like in a couple of fights like at the train station and then at the end to cuz it's like she be kind of getting f***** up in like oh yeah that f****** Zeus this m*********** without lightning bolt Elton John I'm really glad you suggested that has been a very long time since I watched it so thank you thank God that's generally positive reviews for X-Men John at you want to tell the listeners where they can find her stuff just go car John card Jo n.com card.com and if
