Below is a rough automated transcript of the episode. We are working on making this better:

we're going to be shooting a special episode of look pass I'm breath yeah this is great this is I'm glad that we're doing something special cuz it's not like our podcast CEO is in the building did you say we're doing so professional yeah I did me do good for me do good ear ear talkies Halo let me command alt tab I didn't know we're getting a performance review BTS reports or whatever they're called audio audio the friend of the show's been on before since the last time he's been on the show invited us to join the podcast Network that he runs ascertain POV Network the one the only whatever hey and also I need this form signed in triple corporates in the building I didn't know that that's what we agreed to a we send you the couple episode wearing a suit in timeout huh since we took over the network and can you tap out the window what happened to Hawaiian shirt Fridays are you here to fire me audio well so you guys are victims of my whim at the moment so this is a personal episode for me we are talking today about the Toxic Avenger because I used to work on the musical and actually in the in these times we lost two people from the the cast and crew of but more recently yeah more recently than one person who had the Toxic Avenger that was Nick Cordero but at the beginning of this we also lost the person ran the props track who is Jeff Waltz to work with me on a bunch of stuff and was roommates with a good friend of mine and like we've been like reconnecting and I've been like feeling it and it's it's Olden seems like a good thing to talk about but some movies that were it's like the musical is based on is very important but also not a good movie it's like since it's very violent and it's it's it's rough and like it's good from a I can't believe they made this on the budget they had kind of standpoint but it's like a weird thing and we kind of just all agreed that probably isn't fodder for us to talk about I think it's it's like such a weird property by itself but you can watch the musical on Amazon the pre-show conversation there is a scene in it where they kill a disabled woman's guide dog and that's not the worst thing to happen to the food because you were protecting me from but when I get home cast it I can't believe it's called a guide dog oh yeah oh yeah I told me earlier before recording when you screwed it around it Lacoste nicest and just like pie in the face it's my husband let him be I am all We Are Legion I guess audio I have not seen the movie movie but I've heard that before that it's insanely violent but there's this thing this trend that was is wild to me of the time cuz the movie was like mid 80s insanely violent adult movies from the 80s being turned into children's cartoons yeah yeah that's cuz I didn't they did it with RoboCop they did it with Beetlejuice yes you can argue like super violent but it was still questionable yeah it was a weird era will be marry a minor at their friends in the show best friends and then you could argue to that Ghostbusters what is that like the the thing where you fall in love with a person kidnapping you at the Ghostbusters before they made the cartoon and then the cartoon you're referring to the toxic Crusaders was done by the same people so like if you look at the animation it looks super similar it was super toy Attic in and so the action figures look like some of the later generation Ninja Turtle ones like the ones that are just like the mutated guy you know like when they went like crazier with the mutation styles so there's a lot of that kind of element and it was just like all right well f*** Ninja Turtles was so big let's see what else sticks is Toyota a real word yeah so it's like aspects of the character design or elements of the text or like if it's like a military team that has like cool like like it's stuff that contributes to a toilet audio word of the day about weird story that gets to a musical being made in 2008 and so it starts off with trauma which is like tiny ass independent film studio based out of New York that qu Yale graduate started the big the big one that's in front of everyone is Lloyd Kaufman who is this like zeny kind of guy who has been really a passionate force in independent movies and then his partner Michael hers is kind of like a private guy the Lord is very public and helps the that his first girlfriend now wife is part of like the New York City film commission so he's like to connected to the stuff in general now but he's been doing stuff since the beginning how to make rakhi movie like he helped them get the rights of shooting Philadelphia and put the whole thing audio and he had a studio that was after a while doing he's like teen titty comedies like letter like lot of software p*** and I was like and I would like kind of yours young people in there pretty and it's kind of a funny scene but also boobs are out and that was their lips like I was their 70s but an idea he had while working on Rocky was like how crazy is like the health club scene he always wanted to do something with like a health club and in the 80s he decided to Pivot to doing horror movies because Porky's came out in like all the sudden like there was just a competition from Studios ahead budgets and so he was like I'm going to do a horror movie news going to be called Health Club horror and halfway through production for this movie they're like this is a horror movie this is a superhero movie they made the monster sympathetic and all of the all the teams that he was killing these roving gangs or not we're so evil there was no reason for anyone to root for anyone besides the monster and so they invoice over the dub the character the Toxic Avenger even though the actual movie script never called him that not to the point that their kids in the movie that have merch audio audio book actually hate has written several books but the one that I have read with is a make your own damn movie is first one was everything I needed to know about making movies was from the Toxic Avenger something to that effect when is unlike other like Indie production which is cool because like he gets people who they're not going to have careers like James Gunn wrote the forward to that book how long before he deguardi but yeah continue to do these like weird any movies but then they tried to license side project so he like license the Toxic Avenger which was this weird call it into the toxic Crusaders cartoon like the continued they got Marvel Comics at some point they just kind of like circled around is this like weird Dallas property that is weirdly fascinating and like audio so that it was just like a weird series and down the line because they always set the location for the sin like in New Jersey like just on the other side of the Hudson it was alright Google do you like a New Jersey kind of theme thing and so years later I've had multiple attempts at musicals but the one were talking about today is co-written by David Bryan who is from Bon Jovi and then Joe Dipietro who is wrote the book and is like a comedy Musical reduce the production of one of his shows and college which was I love you perfect no change has like funny relationship comedy stuff and I want to roll back and say that this is part of the Bon Jovi Cinematic Universe yeah yeah That's so exciting we've got at least one listener he's going to be so saludos that was a big part of the musical when was running because people just come from New Jersey like and just like pumped for it like a lot of the merch was like Jersey Girl the opening number of the musical is who will save New Jersey audio it's a really fun show like it was a cool team working on it and yeah so I was part of the crew for the show I ran the spotlight because with a trauma production there's always a lot of hats and it was a lot of fun and like I said we'd the the actor who played the Toxic Avenger was really great and had like a really cool career and unfortunate just lost his life to covet but everyone is gone on to do lake lots of life Broadway stuff and one of the characters was played as Broadway Legend phones under study for a Vita and it sent then just like done so much like she did like you're in town into like as has been audio I thought about it I was going to be respectful and not make that joke no that's how it's spelled the other way it's actually spelled urine as in like the excretion of humanity currently rotating star are people for the lake love interest character in it but the last one on the Off-Broadway production was Diana DeGarmo from well now she does like musical theater stuff and it does country singing also but it's from American Idol original and then since that show closed it's been on tour it's actually like it was in LA for a while recently it was actually by me in the DC area and it's been pouring up until now the these times yeah I can see what you got the poster behind you what is Izakaya it's the window card so like outside the boxes outside the theaters that would like a glass panel that are like lit audio 6 feet tall working on the show I ended up working at that theater and so like like two years later we really going through like publicity material that was like left over there and I was like I'm taking us inappropriate kids cartoons I mean I know My Little Pony started as basically a snuff film Toxic Avenger Sandro Kopp RoboCop dimensions real juice is kind of like borderline they made a rainbow cartoon what Police Academy cartoon yeah right they made that toxic they made a Highlander yeah it's terrible made in 1999 of Starship Troopers cartoon the Roughnecks the one in like how do you look at us like yeah that's what for kids they made an aliens cartoon as in the movie Alien well that one where can you watch that what is that streaming operation aliens excusing it but like back at the 80s it was like he knows things that were are now or like PG-13 or what was okay for children was like so much High an idiot Goonies because it's either way Productions from that same. So well but but here's the thing the Toxic Avenger wasn't just PG-13 it was it was barely our it was actually so violent they had to cut a bunch of stuff to get the rating audio Ted Neeley Red Dawn was the first PG-13 movie we're both wrong according to history.com in a weird property it's a weird time cuz I remember the cartoon and like the other part that kind of made that property stick out for me and why was I excited to work on the the musical was trauma was very aggressive when video stores first came out or rather video rental places first came out about getting their properties in there when Studios quite clear on if this was a good idea and so like and you probably kind of remember this from like local video stores and even Blockbuster really early on where there's like a lot of like Indie movies like a lot of like Cannon were things like Masters of the Universe or like condorman I am probably dating myself because I'm older than all of you condorman people talk about but don't like no one is really recommending that you go check out unless you're like super into like audio cheaper category of things like the Toxic Avenger was very prominently located in video stores I was like oh that's cool it's the movie for the cartoon I watch and my parents be like no and so is always the thing I wanted to watch and then I kind of forgot about it once I got like a little older and heard about the musical yeah I remember that this is great and like I watched a movie and I was like what is rough but it had such a hard not to be like kind of rooting for it like I always root for like underdogs production like the fact that we're still kind of having the conversation that you know like 35 years later is really cool yea though I am very excited to check this out cuz I used to be Nash's Jam in high school was built the flock fast attack of the Killer Tomatoes what time is it Minnesota cartoon audio yeah does Ford or just wait for the remake cartoon of the Killer Tomatoes cartoon I mean you can go watch it's pretty crazy singing is like Speedo audio audio I feel like I want to talk about dance document doing another pass last summer what do you think the odds are the podcast exist with like three white guys talk about a dune and classic science fiction is called there was a human-sized toilet I would flush you down at right now you would need an unusually large toilet for size and strength to accommodate for Pat's I need the ministry of Magic Toilet so anyway so what are your guys expectations based on the amount I've gushed about this show like I did Spotlight so I watch this every goddamn day for like 9 months and it's going to be different production but I'm still excited and I'm curious over-salted or are you guys dubious about my taste have really really enjoyed most of the property I don't care that much about musical adaptations you know that mistakes for you felt like there's a lot of like take the prestige musicals that were like written as musicals and then there's like adaptations of like this maybe shouldn't have been a musical but like here it is and like all that was better than I thought it was going to be a thinking of like several Harry Potter themed musicals or whatever else but I am hoping more this more that Vibe wear creative dialog for violence is always fun audio might my concerns lie mostly in the time. When it was created cuz we were talking a little while ago about music from the mid-aughts and Lindsay Ellis just put out that hole like the protest music of the mid-aughts video Addis the okay there's people talking about the music of that time and a lot of the music of that time weird and bad but like some of it was really good so it's kind of like where does this one fall in the in the the line of good and bad I'm I'm I'm leaning towards good cat just because musical annotations of things that were never meant to be musical just like a very nice subcategory of things I really enjoy I don't know anything about this like story-wise aside from like what you said audio I'm expecting it to kind of be like a simple production that has like complex character interactions I'm hoping for will you enjoying the original property or the state space lion like Wheatley fresh on got to distill it down to a yes or no will you enjoy it cuz it's the play if it was a movie I'd be saying no what the property that you actually liked and had a fondness for I also don't know anything about this like I didn't audio this was a thing I still feel kind of in the dark was this a comic book first I really don't know no it was a is just a movie and then yeah all right that's bananas to me that you would start a movie as a horror film and then it would transition into superhero movie stuff so it started off as a teenager movie and also a horror movie and then they're like Oso actually it's a superhero movie Evil Dead when we had Rachel and Matt on it talked about how evil that is crazy scary and then they buy Army of Darkness into did like a musical of all three of them still together transition tonality throughout the movie but anyway I yeah I'm going in with like kind of no expectations except for the ones that you put in my head case so I guess we will it seems I'm excited did I just watched Hamilton guys so I'm ready for follow that up with something better case just kidding. This is definitely a logical next but I've I'm excited cuz I'm in like the musical like I will be honest which is so crazy which might impact whether or not I like this and I think which shot case is like I'm the type of person where I really love that have funny songs so like I love Flight of the Conchords I love crazy ex-girlfriend I love galavant like those type of TV shows so I'm bored for but then when I like actually go to see a musical there's always a moment for me including and Hamilton where I'm like like musically maybe this isn't my thing and then I came back around after intermission but like I don't know if I like actual Musical so we'll see audio I am with you I do really like still got like silly Whimsical musicals I love and adore like 5 Concourse in galavant and the fact that end after 2 seasons is one of the greatest criminals yeah so I think this will be negreanu I think we're going to have fun I think for me it's like if if they're singing the entire time like and it's kind of cheesy that I have a problem with it but if there's like dialog happening in between the songs like am or difference the difference between a rock opera if you don't actually break for like the dialogue scenes or hip hopera if it's music style hat do you think you could beat up lin-manuel Miranda yes absolutely why do you want to hurt me if I have the ability or you're asking me to do it you're like you think you'd like are you asking me like do you have the ability are you saying are you asking do you think you could run to the store for milk. How are you are you asking me to actually go do it was definitely like do you have the ability but the way you answered it held such a sustained for lin-manuel Miranda that I think that almost counts as a challenge I didn't realize it was not is it the same for that or just like you said it last episode but this is definitely the most shade of ever thrown out of someone with a simple yes oh wait, there was there was disdain iJustine was from me because the idea that have any trouble I think I would be good with most of Hollywood in the MCU I might have some trouble with some of those fellows but they don't they only that mean they are super buff I like when they when they look like that they're so dehydrated you would have like you have a like a f****** weight advantage that's true okay let's go watch this musical guys and we'll come back and tell us if he was going to enjoy the thing he worked on I don't know how this production holds up like I seen pictures because I was like looking into it and I'm like oh those costumes look weird to me it's like there's a changes that have occurred when it's not necessarily like it's the same producers I looked at that but it's not 100 0ke everything's the same audio don't know about that it's different people there's also take to come back and talk s*** about the lighting the whole time but it like it look like a touring production so it I did not see what appeared to be a turntable which fassett previously have been built on audio will find out I had a soft spot for that when it was like my first like real theater job in New York so so like I really appreciated getting to know all the people there in like funtrivia like it was the same theater where the Evil Dead musical played also audio I think I'll enjoy from a Nostalgia standpoint but like I think I'll keep thinking about how much more fun it is to be live we're going to pause the recording I go sign up for another streaming service and watch the Toxic Avenger Broadway adaptation you should tell ya website platform so you have to ask Amazon Prime but you have to sign up for Broadway HD you can sign up for a 7-Day trial Pat I'm sorry for picking on you I just I just want to have like a bumper sticker that says my pack and beat up your cat audio audio that's a mess all right you're going to dinner and post do I want to fix it in poster and I just going to let it sit like that I expect you to add piano to it and everything yeah that what band had the album that started like that oh yeah audio I think about it so we're back from watching the Toxic Avenger Musical which I was super wrong guys I knew that the tour touchdown in La for a while and it's so I thought that's where they filmed It cast preferences are supposed to be in London that's why they like talk about Kate Middleton in the show in New Jersey and also the in New York where was playing so yeah well that's why I was like why don't you just say the Hudson like that's the obvious joke here but went for a really obscure reference but now I understand it was local I know like Toxic Avenger the titular character was played by Ben Irish but man I want to shut out their names here cuz they deserve all the credit Oscar, Maury and Che Francis I've got to be exhausted a lot of stuff word shay was like dressed as a woman and I legitimately thought it was a woman he was so good no no those the black guy hey is the black guy credit it is white dude and Black Ops audio oh my God yeah Nobody's Business Beginning of the End front or back just nonstop no brakes and they were phenomenal yeah those costume changes Natalie Natalie hope played the governor the mayor Melvin's mom and all of it and she was phenomenal she did have the salon scene which holyshit so good I'm just flipping from her accents back and forth and she has a half costume next flipping around and just yeah audio wake up heart is very hard and like that track specifically so hard she did a really good job of that I was kind of wondering how I mean I know it's the speed change costumes is a thing but like jumping in and out of heels like that and not yeah it's crazy the customers crazy job in like the Hallmark of the show yeah I mean I love how they like even make fun it like that point it out and like make fun of it like when he comes out and he's like oh no my pants like he forgot to chase out of the other fan so far love that stuff I enjoy who sings where I go see what people it is not done right it can annoy people but when you break the fourth wall in a in an effective good charming Ernest way I really enjoy it like when she drops her cane end of the whole thing and hitting the stage at like the stations that was great that whole section that like I don't shake it like case you can correct me if I'm wrong but I'm assuming that was like oh Improv jokes that they're like saying back and forth there is an improv but like jokes that he's like they're saying back and forth to each other the muttering that they were all doing like the different curses like that that stuff is would like or how they look kind of played out but like the the beat to like do the Fallen stuff is all written in what did I can't remember what the joke was really like one of them say a joke and you can see like the stagehands like just lose it because obviously audio yeah oh oh when the when the girl played Sarah was like I could do this like this my job as a WeChat I also really like that it a blind character but she cares about looks you know the most of a Moana in the show completely like it like the that character is like so many like weird some virgins because like like this like Cookie Cutter like oh look how like unbelievably wholesome a concept character it is and then here's how we like like one changes that they made from the the New York production to this and I'm guessing it's because of the London cast is that they set up the Oprah thing a lot like the in the state showed they had none of that it's when you got to the choose me Oprah number was the first time she and so it was like oh my God she's all in it for like the book deal was like the first time we like really snowflake set that one up so it was interesting to see that they like kind of me that choice to like set it up earlier but yeah like throughout she just she's just supposed to be like a little more vain than you'd expect a little bit more into Lake popularity than you'd expect because again like it's she's the blind librarian like wants to save the environment and let sound so yeah they really hammed up the vanity and I like that they're breaking the stereotypes of that I hope I was cool I wonder if they said the Oprah thing up more because like maybe people in the UK don't realize like yeah that's what I'm saying audio what do guys think about having like the main villain and like the Vilnius politician be a female character I thought that was really fun and kind of like I feel like possibly a little forward for the time breast audio is that just for is it a villainous political politician character in the movie case or is that just for the the movie was it a dude so they kind of made her look more like a Sarah Palin character in the earlier stuff and they're still like some of that in her design like it's all the red never ething Bud Light because the actress is a bit younger in this at they like kind of play up the Escape Factor it's just even more so I love that but she's like you won't give me the answer what about these baby gorgeous and I love it like that the nuclear waste silos like opened up into the bookshelves oh yeah I know it was only in one scene really I know when I want a more stuff at the house like with everything else going to turn into two things they didn't have to shuffle in and out too much stuff audio sparse props always watches play like a musical Stage production and I go cool when are they changing the set and then I go or not audio Sunset the whole time got it not to do too much of like the other versions better but the other version had a a turntable for the Witchwood open up to a variety of scenes I suppose there's like some of that like some stuff on the side of they would like kind of adjust it sort of just made for pieces as opposed to like okay well we can just slide stuff into the already configured set doesn't make any sense sad not to have it was during the end Chase they kind of are just like all coming in from every direction The Inn at you could do is sort of like a fake they're all running and like OU speeds up like it was spinning opposite them and so it did be like fake running and then they would like to go to speed up and like run off stage and I'll circle around doing like rapid costume changes audio which is like really insane is that mobile cuz it isn't this is this was the group that you said like went on tour with it maybe yeah I don't know how you fit that undo a track audio that guy with the sound guy at the end was hilarious audio audio is the keyboard player keyboard guy pulls out a gun and shoots the dishes the mayor audio yeah they kept going back to that that overacting thing that the guy who was the yeah good gags I like all the other references to other musicals to like my favorite was The Rocky Horror one Dammit Janet I feel like I need to I need to watch the movie now separately from Sam and not not a Richard movie audio Avenger I am really curious because I've never seen the movie but feels like they took a crap of a movie totally made something amazing out of it I feel like you can see the like like I can see the elements that case was talking about where it's like oh there's the where's the Super risque scene for something really bad happens in the movie would have been a lot more gourrier and violence or yeah that they said he did he did on screen audio or like how the bird place of the guide dog I was like okay I can see where these things happen and I can see how you like Stihl Incorporated them which is interesting without making it a horror show yeah it definitely felt like it came from a place of like love of the original and not mockery which I appreciate it it wasn't a little tongue-in-cheek but it wasn't like straight-up satire original who was the guy who wrote directed is a producer on this right audio play another past themselves audio we're going to take the pieces entertaining make it more fun and lighthearted and not what I've gathered disturbing or problematic yeah it's kind of like a good version of like a Tim Burton remake of a thing like Tim Burton for like every time you would do like a property like Planet of the Apes the cultural Zeitgeist of all of it and sort of compressed it into one weird kind of f***** up version as he saw it like employees like here's here's what I might take on the property as a whole there's a lot of Misses especially in the back end of Burton's career here we go it's that type of thing here but I think it's much more effective like its elements of this that incorporates like the toxic Crusader or the later sequels or you know all like the larger property besides just the original movie and they sort of roll it all back in create like a cohesive Narrative of like this is what the property the Toxic Avenger in the modern day he's not throwing shade Pat Planet of the Apes was just a terrible mess in the trailer was so good and I so excited and wants to be first he just said we'll know the phrase someone made a good Tim Burton remake of something yeah you know what I think I think they also they're like not taking themselves seriously it which I think is eat a lot of Comedy musicals do anyway so it fits really nicely together so they cannot take cuz it's like I do have a few like plot hole things that I'm like this doesn't make sense but at the end of the day I like breaking the fourth wall and like making fun of themselves so like I feel like it's okay how does this character not know what the word toxic means she's like never heard the word toxic before I wonder how many people I mean that was when you came out I would like that but the popular pop culture Global threat In-N-Out global warming pollution so eat I'm sure there was a time immediately before when is I really came out with like people that use that word ever but everyone else in the play besides her know what the word mean and she's the library why does she not know what the word irony of it audio the way our brains work in the going to be super generous here in the context of meeting a person and they tell you your their name you're hearing the sounds my name is toxic he said I am it wasn't confused earlier when Melvin complained about its waste toxic waste responded just fine to it so I think it was just the context thing also it's like unless the thing is like I don't think Kohl's at it but at the end of the day they they aren't taking it seriously so it's fine but that and then him just like turning into a murderer didn't make sense to me but he just killed his lady no she was actually evil superpower know that I said is a superpower he senses evil and so like he's not he's been killing people throughout the whole musical just like mostly in the legend of the Toxic Avenger but he have been directing it only towards like one bad guys and then when he was enraged he like he let his instincts take hold the Toxic Avenger just has like this passion to murder things accept the things he wants to murder always bad guys so is a bird a bad guy the bird Hitler audio one too many times that the baby's eyeball audio yeah he did didn't he promise not to hurt anyone I don't think that's happening he says that in the song where she's like you made a promise and you broke it so I'm breaking mine just killing anything in a fit of rage he's just like I'm going to go burger or something as opposed to like some people's lives curly comparable stop. Was right there I mean business people doesn't have like a nuanced approach to violence they talked about how it's entertaining quite a bit it's my cheat day audio I wish they'd just like establish that were cuz you just seem like also need flips on a dime and I'm like what you need to see the movie to figure out what's going on like it's really just that like oh he's like some sort of Frankenstein style monster that terrible two yeah I mean that's all part of the same kind of dislike monstrous take us Monster sticker that lives Among Us like an Inca do type figure that is like equally dangerous but also valuable sometimes you say words cases what is an Inca do you do is from the legend of Gilgamesh he is a a wild man Google Maps stop you're killing ad concept of the the sort of the savagery that we need or like that Society needs to protect itself and not go soft like that's there's always like some kind of mythical figures like that like someone willing to do the terrible things as we become a more hero they need but not the one they deserve become less reliant on that to protect us from outside threats internal ones make a question or inside the represented more monstrously and that's why things like the Hulk is an appealing concept because we understand that the idea of being burdened and isolated I need to do what is opposite Society but for the betterment of society and Toxic Avenger is a figure of that I'm sorry I'm sorry I really like when my Inca dues are Toyota audio yes you got to get that action figure money will know that's exactly what they did when they updated it and made it Heracles and make sure that he always had like a lion head audio audio and if you haven't been following cases Superman analogues series on Twitter it's very good Goodreads I feel like that was a good distillation of the kind of breakdowns that you do over there I do or I did I've been unlike the Hiatus just cuz it's felt like a weird time to write about some of that I'm not done it was just like the world's kind of on fire and I feel kind of like audio oh yeah is an awesome character who had a kids cartoon in the early 2000s people are dying over there but you know let's talk about that can't be serious all the time people people need people need them audio what's my favorite musical number was audio I would watch an hour-long variety show of Oscar and Shay they need their own show I think my favorite was I don't remember the song weather in the Hamilton Cafe and they're dressed as women with with the blind audio big French boyfriend she broke up with him audio cuz it reminded me of the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend let's marginalize about Med we deserve to be marginalized you were worried about it seeing two of the time I didn't want to say anything cuz I felt like I was classic Rocky more than like specifically Ott's music but what was your Takeaway on that it was intensely of the time I've added that I would have to go and like on a music hunt to find all of the analogs that were in the show and it was like audio it wasn't like I've seen that and stuff before that's been used before yes most of the tracks had pad or where based around a riff that was a big hit in pop culture around Matt and arts Timberland came out Nelly Furtado I mean seeing if the odds I just wasn't expecting agador Spartacus to be in this movie audio Lorenzo Lorenzo Lorenzo and Lamas what was the other one's name was llamas audio I just remembered alkaline Trio time to waste is this is the song that I was thinking of earlier Alkaline Trio from Aurora Illinois suburb of Chicago audio he probably played it I'm not going to cut it out episode so we don't get the NCAA but and then they got into the okay I mean audio I feel like a disorder sounds like a fairly stock piano Gothic kind of track yeah but that but that was the OST that's a good one what are the musical actually first text Mama the musical actually that what we watch was filmed in 2018 Nicole Nike created yeah so this was 2000 is either the very beginning 2009 or the end of 2008 when it opens in New York and before that it had run it the Paper Mill theater or pick-and-roll Playhouse in New Jersey so it's I mean audio when they first year that the Alkaline Trio Thug came out Case Case in point or anything I'm just saying like the influences I feel like we're really strong hey do you guys want some Evanescence I feel like when you talk about piano with Gothic is Evanescence is Daredevil Ben Affleck Daredevil it's in that Infinity cast and I have just brought all these memories back and they like brought it up and it's alright that terrible training montage Jennifer is Verdes moving very powerful skin Adventure father case okay Elektra natchios I feel like they took a lot of that the look of that movie and put it into the the Netflix one but like it was so much better the second time around yeah just across the border are there some parts that I didn't need about that movie now you don't know how it actually does where they connect all right so you know how the Ninja Turtles at we're actually exposed to the same radioactive substances Daredevil so that was an Easter egg in the in the comic that they set it up that strongly implied because they have a blind man gets shot or no buy a boy who gets toxic waste splattered on his face and then trips down the sewer on to the turtles and that's that was the start of the Ninja Turtles which was again parody of Marvel Comics and Daredevil has the hand they are frightened of the foot and they were trained by Splinter instead of stick sao rafael was obviously a good choice to use size like it's all that and then they sit teenager mute most popular books selling at the time outside of Daredevil where the Teen Titans and the X-Men audio weirdly superheroes from this time cuz this came out at the exact same time or like the original Toxic Avenger come out sometime radioactive s*** was like a big compelling thing of the mid-80s I'm guessing yeah when was Three Mile Island audio easy easy shorthand for how someone got super powers Thanos going to say it's like the 60s that you see a lot of it was like it was hit by radio like by radioactive waves and then when you get to again when you get to the 80s it's more like the sludge itself like as a mutagen 279 audio so that the entire 80s garbage aesthetic that I'm not a fan of but everybody else seems to like I guess so yeah what you guys think about this as like environmentally conscious Musical from the get-go that's like the actual pieces Beaver Lake KY news talking about it in the beginning and then it likes falls off throughout the middle and then they come back and hit it hard at the end that's what this was all about a sick what and then I was like I guess it makes sense actually when I think about it like it makes sense with his character and end the story and everything but I was just like I wasn't expecting the Captain Planet Vibes to be full-time if you think about it in a way I didn't loosen was the hero here we wouldn't have had the Toxic Avenger without pollution hero we need it he is the hero who uses the dark magic to propelled of the feywild but like he doesn't really do anything like toxic sludge to destroy the toxic sludge like he's probably like the most passive character in the whole play if you really want like the legend of the Toxic Avenger I think covers a lot of that but it's sort of like they keep talking about how he murders like her breathing in toxic ways and like gangsters they keep telling us that it occurred but we're not seeing it on stage I guess I thought he was like singing about is future I didn't realize he was saying about his you know what I mean like the legend Mikey in my mind he is he's just became this so he's not a legend yet I thought he was talking about like his future. two things they invited they've been hanging out for three weeks still got a lot of time in the Cape is wearing the cape all the sudden Rock Anthem bad guys is plenty of time to become a legend people love Riot ribs I don't know what you're talking about whenever you say right right are the people in Portland they give out free food and drink all the protesters and are run completely by donations so people in and they there 24/7 cooking food for all of the protesters it's super cool that's very cool the name of the heroes of the protest right ribs have kind of become like the emotional hook for people outside to be like so it really is the whole communities working together like it was like such a ostensibly positive thing but no one can really argue about that sort of like how people I kind of talked about it when all the news outlets are just like it's rioters doing evil I actually know there's a like a free food stand that's giving food and water and medical supplies to everyone and it's like more of a base of operations than a riot Giants don't have home bases what are you making the argument that right reads ribs is legendary is that the argument it's a modern-day Legend and why do you like some for something be legendary it has to be like remembered for a very long time what song is the Toxic Avenger 3 weeks is not enough time for the alleged that's awesome a story about a hero becomes a legend in 3 weeks yeah and then one pundit who already it's called name of the Winds read a book audio I like that you called me motherfuker what's you doing Mystikal you are trash fast. audio I think we have to wait for the book I'll never come out first it will ever come out though I can't possibly know what's going to come out first the Third Name of the Wind book or the last one of those authors has a better track record than the other what I fell for it but comes out if you look up if you look at the song ice and fire if you look at the time between book it is it is literally exponential like it's like first book to your second book Warriors for third book 6 years 12 years and wherever we're at now 15 years and counting or something I don't know whatever it is Federal ammo is it exponential or does it decrease Ruby 3 years and then will be there any of this year's I'll be three years hopefully be quicker than that cuz I'm ready writing third one so I'm trying to throw it off by putting alcohol book in the middle Anna D&D book send a text and why these writers might have long periods audio Star Trek Adventures if people were throwing the kind of money at me that those two are getting you would have another spaceship book every f****** year I feel like that's part of the problem that was like people are throwing money at them to write other things so they're like okay did the Toxic Avenger have a comic yes there is thank you for the 4th of it yeah so there was both hey, kill it with Marvel and they also had like later did like their own Indie publishing specific Toxic Avenger as well as like other troma properties sergeant kabukiman and Newcomb High enjoy from a formatted academic sense, but like I'm not I've never been like deeply invested in it they tell you something case troma is another word to keep saying and I don't metafictional audio it is Jesus Christ I just looked up a picture of what the Toxic Avenger looks like in the actual movie and it's f****** horrifying weird part of that SR22 he was like tricking to wearing it and then they like Dousman the toxic waste it's probably for the best that we didn't watch the movie Frank audio I had fun I enjoyed it I thought it was something different I might scope out over the next few days a couple of their musicals on their or trial task with oh yeah we should Easter egg events I do like comedy musicals I can really I really enjoy that but I I had fun with it I'm really glad that we kind of do this little this slight Tibbett audio I had ups ups and downs watching this thing it was hilarious many of the tracks are very funny I feel like there is one line that sticks out as like I laughed when I said it and then it was a repeat in an avocado that's the course and then it wasn't funny for the rest of the time they did it which was the the Keyes on Van Nuys I'm going to kick kick kick kick kick your ass audio oh I didn't even catch that one that's funny it was hot it was hilarious I can't remember the girlfriend's name but like all of her songs Larry Sarah good comedy songwriting which is weird to see a property like this that I mean obviously it was going to be weird and Goofy I wasn't expecting like quality goose and I got some quality Goofs which is like spoton4you exceeding expectations I enjoy this yes I am most likely to not enjoy why I thought it was really fun I loved all the songs they were catchy and pepe and I enjoyed it a ton I was a little nervous because of everything that everyone said about the movie it sounds like they really the movie and like lost it and turned it into something amazing and different and it just really fun I loved every second it was only a few minutes into the movie and Sam's on the on the couch and she looks over me sick is going to be good audio audio the acting was great the singing was great the song writing was great the story was simple but like carried really well through the songs I love the sets are the sets and how it transformed and then the lighting was great the costumes were great like everything was off Everything Is Awesome audio Everything Is Awesome mind meld literally been seeing your face like almost every other anyway yeah I had a really good time to you I feel like it was net-positive that would say Irene audio it wasn't it wasn't one of the musicals we're halfway and I was like do I not like musicals I was like on board with this one and it kind of Little Shop of Horror vibes but maybe that's just because that's the musical I was in in high school so Atwoods near and dear to my heart the movie kind of like seriously Sara character kind of reminds me of Audrey you know a little bit but like Audrey's ditzy versus the Sarah characters blind witch my one sticking point feel like maybe making fun of someone's disability isn't cool anymore audio yeah sunset I definitely think that like it was funny and there are lots of funny moments with her for sure but they were definitely like stereotyping of blind people that I was like they didn't so much walk a fine line as they like Hopscotch back and forth over it cuz there was some really good like you are blind and this is funny and the blindness is related to that and then there was like several we're laughing at you cuz you're blind jokes lately representing of the disability like blind people obviously she was silly and like a audio but like they're not why people are really good at like boring things in their glasses and like knowing when their glasses are full and like I think I just got like pouring out water everywhere more like her tripping Uno's like okay you know but but then there's the jokes of like wow she's blind but these drawings are really good like you know good there was a big thunderstorm she was being like an awkward as being an actual librarian and then it's like oh right she's a librarian because she was I hired a blind librarian as a joke 2 mess up anyone investigate Lake at least I have like moments like that so kind of try to justify skilled at a job like it was just kind of like but overall I thought I thought it was really fun and I laughed a lot and definitely hilarious case review hated it right we don't drag the light guy there was one moment where I was like that light was a second place there's a part of me that is like protective of like the cast I worked with and like the production elements that I work with and like there are spots where it's just like okay just like can't help it time to hear it in the voice of people I know when they played differently it's like oh that's weird and I'm really glad that you guys enjoyed it because I was their response from like I'm not sure if this is just by us Play 4 or if there's like spots that were like kind of rough and like I think it's overall really good the fact that but I realized it's like oh it's the London production can you explain some of the questions I had about like the way to change cultural references audio but you know overall like it I think it's a fun show it's it's a parody of superhero stuff in general and I think that that's you know where when this came out it was like right after Iron Man came out we're starting to see the rise of like the you know the MCU and we're still like really immersed in that like pop culture wise and so like having something lately take the piss out of it is like kind of fun and that it's Lakes environmentally conscious is like next detail of it like it feels like the character has like an end goal that isn't just like beat up people who are in like so like that's that's nice and like it's fun and it's foggy and like that you know some of the numbers like Bradley mentioned in kick your ass world like they do that whole thing it's like a little different when it's on stage and albertsstuff to get like properly to get the Prosthetics and position so that your like audio which doesn't read on the screen so like this adaptation of it I thought was was fun but there's nothing stuff lost from being like in the audience just it was just impressive but like one character like goes back there and then replaces his arm with a fake arm and like I didn't even notice until the arms being like ripped out you know I was like oh wow that's awesome yeah I was I was going to agree with kit with case about that like but that's how most of the on video Broadway style Productions I've seen go is there a site this is missing a lot of what the stage experience had literally being there versus sing it like recorded like you know there's there's always going to be disparate element of like having a live Human doing but I think this was actually like a really fun and I think if you're ever curious about it it's it's definitely fun to check out time intrigued to see what else they like the service has to offer but in the meantime it was like I kind of just I kind of needed to see it again like it was like it was such a weird chapter in my life and like Sarah has been sold does mustard work on this production not this little penis Twitter yeah this theater industry in general right like we've lost two people from the cast and crew during the independent times and like one was like heavily publicized the other one wasn't in like both of those are like different kinds of just like emotions this is more catharsis for me than like anything else and I really appreciate you guys like kind of like being my therapist audio audio a cool experience today learning about this weird-ass property I didn't know about and also getting till like share in your your experience of it cuz it's it's give you perspective added a lot to our viewing of of the Moana movie you know a lot to the viewing in general what was Hamilton can call themselves the movie then they can call the police are they did they call themselves is a Hamilton the movie Hamilton the movie audio I wish I was in the production values in this specifically like the way they use the cameras or she like the opening I was like oh we're getting some good close-ups we're doing stuff that like you just can't do on the stage Legos are good elements I was thinking about that when I was watching it and I was just like damn how many cameramen I mean they might have usually with live performances like I'll shoot a couple of nights and they might like edit a few nights together kind of thing but are they easily had at least four or five cameras at least there's like one that was like roaming around and then there's one that was getting bird's-eye view down on the stage and there was a cameraman right in the middle of the stage down below and then there had to have been one or two on either side and then I guess there was one in the back so that makes like five 456 that's 6 right there it was just the center guy and one other guy that was sprinting the whole time audio archival footage for like off off Broadway shows and I would usually try to like set up like three cameras if I couldn't have like a person being like I can in the audience camera so that I could get like alright so here's a closer angle one side of the stage of listening from the other and here's a master so like if it's cool to see like how much more cinematic you can make it when you have the additional audio is very cool I think they're I wouldn't be surprised if some of the opening shots they even got change the Shot Ya but I was very cool that's nuts how many I was always shocked when they would like cut to another camera angle and was like how many cameras do you have audio how many vagina shots can you get thank you case for bringing this is life at really appreciate it I mean it's in our contract so you did yeah we kind of had to I'm trying to be nice but yes of course I force you to with a with a gun to your heads it's it's all good audio be nice if you'd lower the gun now that we're done Ernest knows you've been telling me again like what are their main shows your house then tell her anything else to talk about what's going on with CPA everything you've ever done so there's so many things I've done usually not very good at any of them so I've got
